Newfie Border Collie mix. adult aprox 58 lbs

A long wait for Ben

After almost a year Big Ben that has travelled by Plane, Train and Automobile to get to the Pet Rescue in Powassan. He's found a home.

He did have to travel just a wee bit more to get to his forever home. The Toni family from Brampton Ontario, did several phone interviews, an online application, a reference check, then came to meet him on Sunday February 14, and took him home. It was a bitter sweet moment for me. Im very grateful for such loving people as the Toni family.

All dogs in their lives have been rescued before. Just a blurb on the All Heart Pet Rescue website is what had the family wanting to meet Big Ben.

Adoptions like this make it worth everything to me!

Saying Goodbye to Ben xo

Ginger

adopted!!!!!!!!!

She seems very curious and loves being around people. Even better people love being around her. Not only has she stolen my heart and the hearts of other Vet Tech students . She is a very loving and affectionate young girl. She is great on the leash, and seems to have has some sort of previous training. I very quickly found that she can sit stay and shake-a-paw on command. She has had a range of procedures; vaccines, blood draws, nail trims, physical exams,. She is a pleasure to be around.and I know she will make the family that adopts her very happy. Im well on my way to completing my CBC for her and so far, I haven't seen anything alarming or far out of the normal ranges. She is flea free. She was vaccinated  with her distemper booster her rabies, and had intranasal bordatella and parainfluenza.

Ginger has been spayed.

Special thanks to Veterinary Tech in training Kayla S. for this update on Ginger!

Iggy

Iggy is a very sweet lab x husky. He has gained quite a bit of weight since this picture was taken. His coat is also nicer looking as well. He is a boy that we never hear bark. He is very quiet in his kennel. When out in the park, he loves to play with other dogs and he enjoys climbing our chain link fence. He doesnt run off, but still we do try to keep him confined! He has been neutered, vaccinated, fecal test done, dewormed, flea program and full blood work done. He is aprox 18 months of age. He and Ginger are the best of friends and would make a lovely couple of dogs for a family that wants two. Otherwise he is up for adoption alone as well. His fee is $175.00

Lady

adoption pending

Lady is very outgoing and energetic, and loves to meet new people. She is an instant favourite with everyone she meets. She loves to play with other dogs, especially if they will run around with her. Lady is walking extremely well on a leash, and responds to gentle corrections if she starts to pull. I am also working on some basic commands, although she tends to be easily distracted if she sees another dog or person; she loves to meet everyone! I am happy to report that she has steadily been gaining weight and has a healthy appetite. Lady would make the perfect companion for any person!

"Lost"

Adopted! Special thanks to all the staff at the North Bay Humane Society

Transferred to the North Bay Humane Society February 9. Thank you to the staff for taking in this girl. We couldnt keep her in a fenced in yard. She'd climb it!!!!

Lost is a sweet girl with lots of energy. She is wiggly and happy to see everyone. She came to us as a stray and never claimed by her owner. She is due to be spayed soon before being adopted.

Puppies... Woof!! Grrr....... Arrf,,,, Howl.... ruff..... ruff......... Puppies

From left to right

Ellie, Fred, Miss PD, Ellie again, Miss Frankie (adopted), Miss Brewsky

These puppies were born at the rescue on December 13, 2009. Their pregnant mom brought into rescue just ten days before she gave birth.Mom was an outside chain dog her entire life.  Mom appears to be Beagle and Minature Collie. Mom will be spayed once all the puppies are gone. She is of excellent temperment. Although not housetrained it wont take long to teach her.  All the pups have their own personalitie, we have spent a lot of time with them and can reccomend which pup should go to which home.. One boy already adopted while only one other brother at the rescue. Five other females are looking for homes. Each person or family wanting to adopt must fill out an application and meet criteria according to the Pet Rescue. Each puppy vaccinated, dewormed, flea  program, sent with a bag of food, dishes, treats, and a toy. Adoption fee applies**

Remember after you adopt your puppy. It will cost a new owner aproximatly $360.00 in vet bills alone. That is providing the pet is healthy.

Magnum

Magnum is a darling boy that gets along with just about everyone. He is a very long dog and rather tall. He is young yet and has to fill out. He is shown above wearing a blue "gentle leader" which is a type of walking facial harness. He can climb chain link fences. He would do well in a home with or without other dogs.

North Bay and District Humane Society releases dog to All Heart Pet Rescue for adoption

Left to right: Suzanne, Magnum and Kathy

We are back on track and very excited to be working with the new Director of the North Bay Humane Society Daryl Vaillancourt  and its wonderful staff again. We have taken in a dog named Magnum as seen in photo. He had been at the humane society for several months and it was time that he was passed onto rescue. After doing a lengthy assesment with him i have labeled him an adoptable dog. He is loving, energetic and happy. He loves to 'mouth' but not bite. We are working on showing Magnum that the only thing he should gnaw on are his toys and not arms! Magnum is vaccinated, dewormed, flea program, microchipped and neutered. He is aprox 18 months of age and a German Shepherd x Border collie.

day 1

Sable dog is a senior Rough Collie that was turned into All Heart Pet Rescue on Feb 24. This picture was taken within hours of her arrival. She was an outdoor farm dog that had never been brought to a vet. Remarkably "she never had puppies even though we wanted to breed her but never got around to it" (previous owner)

Day one: Sable Dog and White dog were rather nervous. I was told Sable dog had been having the runs for aprox 2 months, therefore I dewormed her immediatly and cooked her some ground beef and rice to help settle her stomache. She ate enthusiastically.

Day two: I spent a lot of my day focusing on Sable dog, I decided to call her Mable. A real name of her own. I brushed all the burrs out of her mane and back. Her stomache area is much too matted. She may have to be shaved there. I brought a stool sample into the vet to check for any parasites as well. An appt was made for her to be spayed on March 11. Gratefully Kae Mantha of Laurentide Golf Club will help to sponser Mable on her quest to a new life.

Day three: Mable was vaccinated, and brought into the shelter area of the rescue. She is shy when approached on her head- she cowers, otherwise welcomes treats with a shake of her paw.

"White dog" came in with Sable Dog on February 24. She had been an outside dog and never brought inside. She appears to be a fox hound or walker hound. The farm that she lived at also had her sister, but in November they shot her because she came back from a romp in the woods and was cut open all down her side. We are told that the mother of 'White dog"and her sister 'Red Dog" had epileptic seizures therefore was shot as well. Apparantly neither of these pups ever had a seizure. She is aprox 13 months of age. In good body condition. Had never seen a vet before coming to All Heart Pet Rescue. We are looking for a name for this girl that isnt commonly known to us, but also not too difficult to say. Please submit your ideas to Kathy at bearcreek@efni.com

All Heart Pet Rescue- owner Kathy Jeanneaults personal pets

P.D. is my own personal dog. He is deaf. P.D. is only two years of age and knows hand signals only. He was born deaf. He and three of his siblings were brought into the pet rescue at aprox 10 weeks of age. They all thrived except PD. He didnt want to eat, play or be with the others. I took him into the house for observation for a few days.... and he never left! I love him to pieces.

Storm is my beautiful black German Shepherd. He is great with everyone. Although he will protect myself or my family should another dog be bothersome. He is a rescue as well. He orginated from a back yard breeder, where he couldnt be registered. He was purchased then became sick, therefore he was brought to the rescue as the young woman didnt have the funds to help him to survive his deadly illness. Storm had Parvovirus which normally kills puppies. But, he lived, after many over nights at the Vet, onn intervenous and antibiotics would he survive. It took us several months to get Storm to eat properly, eventually he became a normal happy dog. We love you storm very much!

Dukie is an 11 year old sheltie that we rescued when he was only a year old. He was owned by a mental health patient and was going in to the hospital for a very long time. He not only asked me to take on the dog but also to keep him for myself. After a few months of whining and crying to Don, we were able to keep him. We had him neutered, vaccinated, and did some training with him. Duke loves to retrieve a ball at any given time in any weather. Many visitors have had pieces of balls thrown their way by Duke just so he can play. He is good with everyone and everything, although he doesnt like his ears being touched. Duke is my little girl Madisons dog and he treasures the ground she walks on. Some of his skills include, rolling over, coming when called, sitting and staying when told to, greeting the school bus half way down the driveway when it arrives, and telling any pup or dog that is annoying him to back off!

Jack is by far Mommys boy. He is six years of age and acts like he is ten.He loves everyone that comes to the rescue. Everyone wants to take Jack home! Before Jack came to All Heart Pet Rescue he had three homes. He finally landed at the pet rescue at aprox 14 weeks of age and did have some agressive tendancies, and liked to bite. After aprox 6 months of rigid training Jack gave in and no longer showed any signs of agression toward people. Jack is protective to anyone he stands with..... around other dogs. He will growl another dog away from whoever he is with, just to tell them to go away. He is my "peace officer" He can get into a dog area with any dog and never hurt it. He especially does well with dogs that are dog/dog agressive, he confidently but not arrogantly wants into the area with myself and the other dog im training and shows it that fighting isnt cool. He loves to rub all over people like he is a cat. He eats laying down and normally lays outside of whichever building i am in. He is one in a million!
